Event Description

The 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, of the 11th year— what will you do to honor the fallen on 11-11-11? This year Veterans Day, or Remembrance Day as it was originally called, will mark the 10th year of Post 9-11 combat. To date 6,243 U.S. service members have died in two major theaters of operation - Iraq and Afghanistan (as of 9/15/2011).

Starting at 8am CST, Students will be reading the names of each of the s...ervice members who have given their lives in defense of our country. Students will sign up for 15 minute time slots available throughout the day. Each time slot will read approximately 200 names. If you have specific names that you would like to read, the list can be reordered so you can read them.

At 1:00pm CST we will observe a national minute of silence, along with 163 other schools from all 50 states plus the District of Columbia who have pledged to participate.

To sign up for a time slot please email us at: vets@rso.wisc.edu
